Former President Olusegun Obasanjo, GCFR, has asserted that Nigerians reserve the right to seek foreign military assistance when their government fails in its primary responsibility of safeguarding lives and property. He stressed that citizens cannot be denied the right to protect themselves in the face of escalating insecurity.

Obasanjo further stated that Nigeria possesses the technological capacity to identify and neutralize criminal elements remotely, without the need for extensive physical deployment of security forces.

He made the remarks during the opening ceremony of the 2025 Plateau Unity Christmas Carol and Praise Service, a three-day event holding from Friday, 28th to Sunday, 30th November 2025, at the 10 Commandments Prayer Altar in Dwei-Du, Jos South. The programme is organized by the Plateau State Government.

The event’s opening session drew several notable personalities, including former Plateau State Governors Senator Dr. Jonah David Jang and Senator Joshua Dariye; former Deputy Governor and ex-Minister of Women Affairs, Dame Pauline Tallen; former Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Solomon Dalung; Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Daniel Na’anlong; among other dignitaries.

Also expected to minister at the event are the General Overseer of Dunamis International Gospel Centre, Dr. Paul Enenche; renowned gospel artist Sinach; and various choirs from within and outside Plateau State.
